Kanawha County, WV Public Records

Kanawha County Public Records encompass documents and materials received or received by a public body for public affairs. The records come in the form of papers, books, maps, photographs, recordings, tapes, cards, or any other form of documentation, regardless of their physical attributes.  Vital records are accessible to eligible requesters, including spouses, close relatives, legal representatives, and the person on the record. Individuals can submit a written request or visit the  Kanawha Circuit Clerks' office in person to obtain the divorce records. Kanawha County residents may also access birth, death, and marriage records from either the Circuit Clerk or Kanawha County Clerk's offices. Only individuals listed on the certificates are eligible to request copies through mail or in person. The records will cost the requester a $12 fee and an additional fee of $12 for further search requests made within a three-year timeframe. The county's property records are public and can be accessed through the Kanawha County Assessor's Office.
